This pedagogical module is aimed to a new group of trainees so as to develop their feeling of being a group and their direction skills.

The progress of the pedagogical sequence:

Oral part

  • The trainer assisted by trainees has to place the compass in the classroom and to define the North and the three other cardinal points.
  • The trainer imagines different simple virtual realities to make trainees understand the sense of “cardinal points” and the use of them: for instance “Imagine you are a bird and you want to fly to Paris, show me what direction you choose”.
  • When each trainee has played at least one time the trainer has to close this first part and to give each trainee a piece of paper.

Written part

  • Trainees have to use a white paper and to note down the four cardinal points using the compass. They follow by writing a point down right in the middle of the paper
  • The trainer has to set out a list of different places (cities, countries….etc.)
  • Trainees have to write down arrows, from the middle point, in direction to the expressed places.
